Chevy

Chevy was my heart dog; he came to me at the beginning of adulthood and walked beside me for 13 years. Together, we went through having two babies, two graduations, heartbreaks and love, and countless moves between Alberta and BC.

He was loved by everyone who met him. Being a bully breed meant that we sometimes had to work a little harder to show people that he wasn’t anything like what you hear on the news, but he did it with a smile on his face. He was a diva in his own way, not liking the rain or snow, and never one to sit directly on the ground—pillows were a must when it came to his naps. His snore could put anyone to sleep as he lay beside you, and it has created a deafening silence in our home now that he’s gone.

Chevy was great with most dogs he met, even getting down to the ground for those friends who couldn’t quite reach. He was patient and kind with the countless children in his life, always gentle and never once showing a hint of aggression. He loved being surrounded by family, basking in the attention of little hands petting him, and was often found lounging at the feet of those he cherished most.

Though he had his quirks, Chevy’s loyalty was unwavering. He was my constant companion, my protector, my friend. He had a way of sensing when I needed comfort, always showing up with his big, soulful eyes and a soft nudge to remind me that I was never alone.

We had an unspoken bond, one that can’t be put into words. The space he leaves behind is immense, and our home feels incomplete without him. But the love he gave, the memories we made, and the paw prints he left on my heart will never fade.

Rest easy, my sweet boy. Your journey here may have ended, but your spirit will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew you. You were truly one of a kind.
